NaNoWriMo Day #30

NaNoWriMo Day #30

Mission Complete. What’s next? I am throwing this 50,000 word document into the darkest respite of the universe for the next couple of months before editing. Now onto my next adventure…

NaNoWriMo Day#26

Panic mode has begun. This is the worst yet powerfully motivating part of NaNoWriMo. My thought process has been a little something like this….

Oh my god! Am I even going to make it to the 40K word count. I have four days left! FOUR DAYS! Do you hear me universe? FOOUUUUUUUUUUUURRRRR DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYSSS! Woe is me. Grrrrrrr. Stay away. I have no time for attending to my basic bodily needs. Psh. Sleep. I laugh at you. Hahahahahaha ha!

34,712 words.

50,000 – 34,712 = 15,288

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving.
May you find comfort in companionship, blessing in being a blessing and peace from within.

NaNoWriMo Day #19

ImageToday I finished a phenomenal book written in the 1950’s by John Howard Griffin – Black Like Me.

Griffin, a white journalist went undercover as a black man in the deep south during the height of the Civil Rights Movement by taking skin pigment treatments orally and securing the effect with dyes rubbed onto his appendages and face. After reading The Cross In The Closet this book hit home. The Civil Rights Movement is a constant battle. Had I been alive during the racial equality battle of Griffin’s time I’d like to think I would have been a voice for the silent. Even today I am striving for equality in my community for all people. Griffin is a hero of sorts for entering into the prejudice heart first. If you haven’t already I would highly suggest Black Like Me. Griffin’s style is easy to read and digest. His sentiments reach across several decades relating to our modern day civil rights issues. You will not come back from this book unchanged.

NaNoWriMo Day #12

Almost half way through the month. Settling nicely at 17,500 words. A little bit behind but already surpassing what I accomplished last year during NaNoWriMo.

November has been a month full of gratitude. I’ve seen a lot of lists floating around. So here’s my top 10 this month…

1.I am super grateful for all of my friends that have become family. They mean the world to me and continue to amaze me with their love and support. I’m looking forward to our Asian Thanksgiving 😉

2. That I can knit like a B.A.

3. Strength to stand up for what I believe in.

4. Jenna Rothhaar.

5. The written word.

6. The interweb.

7. Chinese food.

8. Meeting new people.

9. My health. Being sick the past week has made me realize how grateful I am for my health.

10. Warm blankets 🙂

NaNoWriMo Day #6

Almost a week in and still going strong. Due to some crazy happening yesterday I didn’t get to write but I more than made up for it today. Felt a little under the weather today so I ended up sleeping away most of the day when I wasn’t writing. Also ran into three fellow NaNoWriMo participants at the Blue Lion last night! Super cool to see other folks frantically writing all month 🙂
